Happy New Year, Colleagues!
Rolling into 2020, interest and investments in physician-hospital joint ventures are growing. Avanza’s 2019 ASC Joint Venture Survey of senior healthcare executives and clinical leaders found that 73% of ASCs owned by hospitals or health systems are structured as physician-hospital joint ventures. Up from 2018, Avanza expects the trend toward joint ventures to continue in 2020. This and other important information about how healthcare leaders around the country are addressing critical issues related to ASC ownership, structure and operations can be found in the results summary and infographic.
“Ownership by employed physicians and engaging outside managers are two of the most common issues we encounter when working work with hospital and health system leaders contemplating developing an ASC,” says Avanza President and CEO Joan Dentler. “Avanza is investing in providing timely and reliable data our clients can use to make decisions about these and other matters related to owning and operating ASCs.”
