Joan’s session on “Converting HOPDs to ASCs – What Hospitals Needs to Know” is scheduled for 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the Grand 124 room of the MGM Grand. Her session’s description is as follows:
“To add an ASC or grow their number of centers, hospitals and health systems are increasingly exploring whether to convert existing HOPDs to ASCs. This may seem like an easy approach to adding ASCs to an outpatient portfolio. Yet it is an approach rife with risk if those involved do not understand or fully appreciate the dynamics of a conversion. Even small oversights can derail a project or cause the new ASC to underperform.
